Apply the license for Mobile Admin

You can license the software in one of two ways:

You will need a SolarWinds Customer ID (SWID) to log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal and access your activation key. Contact Support for your SWID.

License the software on a computer with Internet access

  1. Access the Mobile Admin Licensing Tool by opening Start > All Programs > Mobile Admin > Mobile Admin Licensing on the Free Mobile Monitor Server.
  2. Click Enter Licensing Information.
  3. Select I have internet access and an activation key.
  4. Click the Customer Portal link to access the customer portal on the SolarWinds site.
  5. Log in to the portal using your SolarWinds customer ID and password.
    You should have received this information in an email sent by SolarWinds when you purchased your software.
  6. Click Licenses > License Management.
  7. Click View and select Mobile Admin.
  8. Locate your license.

  9. Under License Activation information, copy the Activation Key to a text file.
    You only need to apply a single activation key.

  10. Log out of the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
  11. Return to the Activate Mobile Admin window and enter the activation key in the Activation Key field.

  12. If you access the Internet through a proxy server, click I access the internet through a proxy server and enter its proxy address and port.

    If your computer accesses the Internet through an authenticated proxy server, complete the procedure for activating without Internet access instead.

  13. Click Next.
  14. Enter your email address and other registration information, and then click Next.

  15. After your Mobile Admin Server is licensed, click Finish.

    You can then view your license status.

  16. Click Close.

License the software on a computer without Internet access

  1. Access the Mobile Admin Licensing Tool.

    Open Start > All Programs > Mobile Admin > Mobile Admin Licensing on the Mobile Admin Server

  2. Click Enter Licensing Information.
  3. Select This server does not have internet access, and then click Next.
  4. Click Copy Unique Machine ID.
  5. Paste the copied data into a text editor document.
  6. Transfer the document to a computer with Internet access.
  7. On the computer with Internet access, complete the following steps:
    1. Open a web browser and navigate to the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
    2. Log in to the portal using your SolarWinds customer ID and password.
    3. Click Licenses > Manage Licenses.
    4. Click the View drop-down menu and select Mobile Admin.
    5. Locate your product license, and then click Activate license manually.
    6. Enter the computer name and machine ID.
    7. Click Generate License File.
    8. Download your license key file.
    9. Transfer the license key file to the Mobile Admin Server.
  8. Return to the Activate Mobile Admin window, browse to the license key file, and then click Next.

  9. After your Mobile Admin Server has been licensed, click Finish.

    You can then view your license status.

  10. Click Close.
